Shown here is the NISAR spacecraft's antenna boom hinge and latching actuator during testing in a clean room at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California.
The spacecraft's radar antenna boom has a four-hinge deployment system that precisely locates the 12-meter (approximately 39-foot) radar antenna. The testing is intended to confirm functionality of the latching actuator before launch.
